Last Saturday, 30th November, Bitfiasi proudly hosted the Bitcoin for Beginners Graduation Event, celebrating the incredible journey of our first-ever cohort of graduates. Held at the iSpace Foundation in East Legon, Accra, the event marked a significant milestone in our mission to empower women in Africa through Bitcoin education and financial literacy.
A Day to Remember
The event brought together over 50 participants, including graduates, guest speakers, and supporters. It was a day filled with inspiration, knowledge-sharing, and celebration as we reflected on the achievements of our graduates and the impact of the program.
Highlights of the Event
Welcome Remarks and Fireside Chat
The day began with a warm welcome from our Executive Director, Gideon Kombian, who shared the vision and mission of Bitfiasi. In a fireside chat, he discussed why financial literacy and Bitcoin are vital tools for empowering women in Africa.
Keynote Address
The highlight of the morning was an inspiring keynote by Awura Abena Amponsah, Country Manager at Yellow Card. Her talk, Breaking Barriers: Women Shaping the Bitcoin Revolution, explored how Bitcoin is helping women overcome financial challenges and build wealth. Her real-life examples and practical advice left the audience motivated to embrace new opportunities.
Panel Discussion
Our panel discussion, titled Bitcoin in Africa – Challenges, Innovations, and the Future, featured industry experts Moses Nkrumah, Linda Angelle, and Emmanuel Kankam Boadu, moderated by Sika Ayiwa. They shared insights into Bitcoin’s role in Africa, from its technological advantages to its real-world applications in business and education.
Student Recognition and Reflections
The graduates were the stars of the event! Certificates were awarded to acknowledge their hard work and commitment throughout the course. Standout students like Stephanie Dawsonn-Andoh, shared heartfelt reflections on their learning journeys, inspiring everyone with their growth and aspirations.
Workshops and Talks
The event also included a practical Bitcoin Workshop led by Edward Amewu, CTO of Bitnob Technologies, where attendees learned how to use Bitcoin in everyday life. Tali Lindberg, another guest speaker, delivered a powerful session on How Bitcoin Can Empower Everyday Women: Real Stories and Practical Insights, showing how Bitcoin can create real-life solutions for financial challenges.
Celebrating Success
The event ended with a networking session where graduates, speakers, and guests connected over refreshments. It was a moment of celebration, gratitude, and hope for the future.
